Labyrinth Walk for Healing
Stand at the crossroads, and look,
and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way lies; and walk in it,
and find rest for your souls.
This year the autumnal equinox arrives on
Tuesday, September 22nd.
This day officially ushers in fall in the Northern Hemisphere. The word “equinox” comes from Latin aequus, meaning “equal,” and nox, “night.”
On the equinox, day and night
are roughly equal in terms of length.
To celebrate the changing of the seasons,
Stacking Stones Ministry will sponsor
a special labyrinth walk for healing
– for all creatures and creation –
on the outside labyrinth at FBC Elkin,
located between the sanctuary and the chapel.
The time for walking will be 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Feel free to come any time
during these hours to walk.
At 4:00 PM, Rebecca Husband Maynard
will open the time for walking
with a short introduction to the labyrinth,
as well as readings that will focus us on healing.
If you prefer not to walk with your feet,
there will be small labyrinths available
for you to use as you sit on one of the benches
and use your finger to “walk” the path.
David McCollum will be accompanying us
with meditative music on his guitar.
